Hearing Tests

Hearing Tests

Because self-diagnosis of hearing loss can be unreliable, a hearing test administered by our team of highly trained hearing health professionals is recommended. Your journey towards your most enhanced hearing experiences all begins with an initial hearing consultation.

Beyond considering a hearing consultation for already demonstrated hearing trouble, scheduling a regular hearing exam every few years is a smart way to be proactive about maintaining your healthiest hearing. We can work individually with you to find the exam frequency that suits your lifestyle and schedule. By instituting healthy habits today, you can avoid the consequences of an undiagnosed and untreated hearing loss tomorrow; conditions like depression, anxiety, isolation, and even dementia.

Hearing Aid FittingsHearing Aid Programming

Hearing Aid Fittings

We’re proud to be an independent practice with the freedom to recommend hearing aids from just about any manufacturer on the market. That means that we’ll search through the many options available to find the exact right choice for you. You’ll receive the best make and model for your unique hearing loss and lifestyle needs, without any sales pressure or hidden agenda. Our priority is your hearing health and we always put our patients first.

Hearing Aid Programming

Using your audiogram — the results of your hearing exam — we’ll program your hearing aids and set your prescription to your individualized level. This is a service that can benefit first-time hearing aid wearers as well as seasoned pros. We will also use Real Ear Measurements (REM) to best fit your unique ear canal shape and sound resonants.
Follow-up Appointments

Follow-up Appointments

Hearing aids work if you wear them! We do everything we can to set you up so that wearing your new hearing aids becomes an easy habit to adopt when you first purchase your hearing aids. But, we also know that continued support in using your hearing aid can exponentially improve your confidence and satisfaction levels.

After a few days, we invite our patients back in so that we can make sure everything is working for them as they experience their new hearing aids. We’ll make adjustments if any feedback warrants them, plus do some additional testing to ensure the equipment is properly functioning. We’ll schedule further corresponding follow-up appointments throughout the trial based on the needs of each patient. The frequency of appointments is customized during the fitting period so that we can ensure that each patient receives the care they need.

We see the greatest success in patients who routinely visit for check-ups every three to six months, and we encourage all our new patients to adopt that practice.

Assistive Listening Devices

Assistive Listening Devices

We offer a range of assistive listening devices and will make recommendations for specific instruments or products based on your unique needs. These can greatly enhance your ability to listen to music or watch television in group settings by connecting you directly to audio sources.

We can also help you connect to the smartphone apps on any of your devices so that you maximize the options available on so many of today’s hearing solution options.

Smartphone & Bluetooth Connectivity

Smartphone & Bluetooth Connectivity

We assist in setting up Bluetooth connectivity to smartphones. If you’ve ordered hearing aids with this function, simply bring in your devices and iTunes password. Together, we’ll download the app and guide you through its setup and installation.
Hearing Aid Repair

Hearing Aid Repair

Like most finely tuned machines, hearing aids require maintenance every now and then. While thorough cleaning and good habits around moisture exposure will keep your hearing aids in prime condition, everyone runs into maintenance work eventually.

Most of the manufacturers we work with offer a three-year loss and damage and repair warranty, so it’s more than likely your hearing aid investment will be covered for some time. Under your warranty period, all factory costs are covered for repairs.

In addition to that, we also throw in free batteries and free office visits during the warranty period. We are committed to providing you with the best hearing aid experience possible.

We know that hearing aids are an investment and our ultimate goal is your best hearing health, so we keep our office costs as low as possible so that you can use us as a resource even after your warranty period has ended.

Tinnitus Treatment

Tinnitus Treatment

Tinnitus is an extremely common auditory disorder that causes people to experience a ringing or buzzing noise in the ears despite no external source. An estimated 15% of the population is thought to experience tinnitus symptoms during their lifetime. The intensity of its symptoms can range from mild to severe, and the ringing noise can be continuous or periodic.

Although the exact causes are usually not known, it has been associated with a number of different factors, including extended exposure to dangerous sound levels, different medications that are toxic to the auditory system, bacterial and viral infections, and physical injuries to the head and neck.

Although there is no cure for tinnitus, our audiologists have extensive knowledge in implementing the most effective solutions and technologies that can mitigate its effects and help you cope with the symptoms. Depending on your particular circumstances, we may suggest any number of the following therapies and management strategies.

Custom Hearing Protection

Custom Hearing Protection

Noise exposure is one of the most common causes of hearing loss. We are constantly absorbing and processing varying levels of noise - in the workplace, listening to music, environmental noises, etc. These everyday noises can be potentially hazardous to hearing health. One of the best ways to prevent noise-induced hearing loss is by wearing hearing protection, including custom earmolds and earplugs. Contact us to learn more!
Cochlear Implants & BAHAs

Cochlear Implants & BAHAs

Cochlear implants are electronic devices used to bypass normal hearing pathways, providing direct neural stimulation to the auditory nerve. They can be used to aid individuals with severe hearing loss or those who are completely deaf. They work by converting sound into electrical signals and transmitting these directly to the auditory nerve, bypassing any damaged structures in the outer and middle ear.

A cochlear implant consists of both external and internal components. The external component is worn behind the ear and contains a microphone, speech processor, and transmitter coil. The internal component is surgically implanted and consists of electrodes and a receiver-stimulator, connected via small wires beneath the skin. Cochlear implants allow individuals to perceive sound when their normal auditory pathways are compromised and are especially effective when paired with regular speech therapy and other forms of intervention.

 OTC Hearing Aids

OTC Hearing Aids

Recently, the Food and Drug Administration approved over-the-counter hearing aids for mild to moderate degrees of hearing loss. While it is difficult for all of us to correctly identify hearing loss on our own, it is as simple as scheduling a consultation with us to ensure that your OTC hearing aids are properly fitted and effective for your specific hearing needs. As such, we encourage our patients and visitors to this website to at least have a comprehensive hearing test conducted by a hearing professional.

Here at Colorado Hearing & Tinnitus, it is our goal to help our neighbors and community hear better. For this reason, there is no judgment if you visit us with hearing aids you have purchased over the counter! We are here to help ensure that your investment is helping you improve your hearing abilities. Please call our office to learn more about OTC hearing aids.
